(It's early in the morning when Tsurumaru and Nanaly are out in the same area!!
Out by the canals, Tsurumaru watches as Kiku dives into the water in her otter form. The sea water of the last two cities just wasn't right for a river otter like her. Something like this suits her much better.
[ She stretches her arms above her head before coming over to join him. ]
Yep, I like getting out early. [ Radheya is flying behind her in shrike form. Early bird gets the worm? ] Gotta get stuff done before it gets too hot where I'm from.
I thought it would be best to wake up before Akira-kun does. (THE POOR TEEN HE IS BONDED TO THIS WEEK...) He's quite emotional, you know.
(Just casually doxxes him. He's old, he gets a pass.
Meanwhile, Kiku dives down into the waters and doesn't come back up for a while. Tsurumaru seems fine so she must be fine too. She's probably just down there swimming her little heart out in the canal weeds or something.)
(He's not going to say it but Nanaly that sounds really rough???)
Somewhere here must be a nice surprise then.
(Meanwhile, Kiku emerges from the canal and begins to make chittering otter noises? He glances over to her and she dives again... this time bringing up a shard of glass.)
Oi, stop that. Haven't you shown enough?
(Those dang memory shards!!! But Kiku throws it... at Nanaly. It is not a memory shard because nothing happens.)
[ He's right but he shouldn't say it and it's good that he doesn't!! ]
It's pretty nice. There's a place I've heard of in my world that's sort of like this, with boats and waterways and everything, but I've never been there. Hated that last place, though.
[ And then suddenly there's a shard coming at her?? Kiku, please?? She sidesteps it quickly on the assumption that it is a memory shard, because she's kind of tired of that crap by now. ]
(Kiku dives back into the water! And when she comes back up again she
throws another shard?)
Sorry, sorry.
(Tsurumaru tries to reach out to grab her.)
I'm surprised by her behavior. (She's dove back down again and returned with another shard. This one, she holds in her little paws for Tsurumaru to take it and hold it up to the light,) It's different from the memory pieces.
(Because nothing happens when they touch it? Kiku makes some squeaky otter noises and begins to swim in a circle. He leans over the ledge to look into the canal, squinting.)
Do you see anything?
(Nanaly might have better luck. Tsuru's vision kind of sucks.)
I guess... she just really wants us to look at 'em?
[ Hm. Yeah, looking at it now, it does look kind of different from the other ones, doesn't it? The way the light reflects off of it isn't quite the same. It's more colorful, sort of?
She kneels down for a closer look. Radheya comes down to the ground to get a look too, hopping from one side to the other until he stops at a particular angle that he seems to find satisfactory. She takes note and tries to look at it from a similarly reflective angle, and then--
Oh! Suddenly she's seeing some buildings that are familiar but different...? She inherently understands that they're buildings from this city, from before that calamity that supposedly forced everyone who was previously living here to move underground. ]
(He's trying to look but he's not really seeing it? He comes over towards Nanaly and tries to see. He can... kind of see it now and he kneels down next to the ledge and looks,)
Is that a reflection?
(No, it's a little different and he looks away.)
There's something down there.
(And Kiku swims up, splashing him in the face. She dives down and comes back up. It repeats a couple of times before she just floats on the surface, otter paws on her belly. She clearly wants them to go under.)
[ There's a snort of laughter when he gets splashed that she doesn't really bother to hide, but okay, okay, let's see. ]
Wonder if it's just more of these or if there's something they're actually coming from. It's showing something about this city's history, I think, so we actually might want to gather up whatever's down there if we're supposed to be getting information about these places.
(He looks over to Kiku who is floating in the canal. She turns over and begins to paddle away towards one of the boats by the dock. It's small but just large enough for the two of them if they decide to take it. She shifts forms and perches at the end of the boat in her magpie form, twittering for them to come,)
[ Well, she's curious now, so she comes over to hop into the boat without much hesitation. ]
Kind of.
[ She probably tried to cross the sea on a raft or something when she needed to get to the capital for supplies but didn't have any spare gald for a boat ticket afterward.
Anyway, joke or not, she assumes he's asking because he either can't or doesn't want to, so... ]
[ Ugh, she is just tired and angry after that, and as soon as she opens the door to the room (with Radheya in caracal form seeming equally on edge) she's planning to just crash on the bed for a while and try to unwind. ]
While he can sometimes be found sitting on the bed to get ready for the day (because do you see his usual layers?) and to lay out some of his things so he can see them easily, he's an old spirit that's usually very content to let Nanaly keep the bed to herself most of the time.
But today, he's just laying down by the foot of the bed, face down. Kiku in her otter form is next to his face and she looks up when Nanaly enters. She makes some otter noises but Tsuru doesn't respond. He's tired.)
[ ...She pauses for a few seconds, but you know what, if he's at the foot of the bed face down, she's just going to flop back horizontally across the top of it. This is permissible.
Radheya stays down at the floor in caracal form, doing some frustrated grooming where his ear probably gets stuck turned half inside-out at some point before popping back up. Cat things. ]
Voted out, whatever. You know what I mean. If too many people guessed wrong and someone innocent ended up getting executed.
[ It feels kind of weird to put this concept into words when you usually associate getting the most votes with winning, which sure as hell isn't the case here. ]
(And he laughs! Look, he knows what she meant but sometimes he just wants to menace,)
We were fortunate this time but the results were concerning. It's clear how confused everyone was and when someone tried to be safe and vote for themselves...
Week 2, Wednesday (morning)

[ She was his roommate last week, she gets it. ]
Yep! The town's built around an oasis, but it's way out in the desert. There's a couple of magma craters around too, so it's pretty intense.
