(They say after a storm is the best time to find sea treasures and Tsurumaru is out collecting sea shells. If Monika gets close enough, a magpie might swoop by her ear towards Tsurumaru who holds out his hand and catches something it drops. )
Oh! (He waves to Monika,) Have you come looking for treasure, too?
[BIRB... Her daemon trails behind her, currently in the form of a black swan, and slows to a stop about the same time she does. She gives the hand he used to catch that Something a curious look.]
Ahaha, like buried treasure? [A shake of her head and a small laugh.] I'm just taking a walk. Sounds like you found something fun to do, though.
[Hello, sir... Monika is crouched by the canals, watching the shards shimmering in the water. Pygmalion can be found nearby, swimming in the water as a swan while taking this opportunity to preen. You know, as a swan does.
She looks up when she notices she has company, though, and immediately smiles when she sees who it is.]
It's not a city in the sky, but what do you think?
(Kiku flies over in magpie form, and pearches near the ledge and to twitter delightfully for Pygmalion. You look your best. Show everyone what a great bird you are. Yes, you.)
I'll settle for a place with a sky. It's certainly better than the last city, don't you think?
Ahaha, definitely! There was something beautiful about that last city, too... But nothing beats getting some fresh air.
[Birbs...! Kiku will want to be carefully, because otherwise they're going to be in the splash zone with Pygmalion is done preening. Gotta shake the excess water out of these wings, you know?]
I'm okay. I mean, you know, as okay as anyone can be in a situation like this? I guess...
[So much murder and invasive memsharing? Wow.]
But enough about me. How are you?
[Ironic that she says this because, uh, speaking of invasive memsharing? Thanks to Kiku diving into the water, one of those shards gets carried away by the ripples, bumping right into Pygmalion. Memories ensue.]
(Tsurumaru has seen things this week. There are things he understands and things he doesn't quite understand but he's always been able to take them in stride.
This memory that starts off so normal and then... becomes so curious? He isn't quite sure what he's looking at when he sees the screen appear. It reminds him of the screens they use at the citadel for their reports and research.
Holographic screens in the air that they read and interact with...
... That these other girls don't seem to notice at all.
The sense of detachment he feels is also familiar. It reminds him of his days before he had a human form. When all he could do was watch passively and let things play out. When things keep happening regardless of your presence, you eventually learn to not bother; to not care.
And yet, it's strange that Monika had been able to interact with the boy. Is he something like a sage? Perhaps this is the part that confuses him the most and Tsurumaru frowns, thinking,)
... I'm surprised.
(He shakes off his expression, trying to regain his composure,)
Can I ask who they were?
(He'll give her a chane to opt out of not answering.)
[Though there's a frown on her face when the memory ends, this isn't a question she's particularly reticent to answer. She sighs, pulling her ponytail over her shoulder to run her fingers through it, fussy.]
... My school's literature club. My friends, and our newest member. [... Hm.] Man, I really wish I handled that fight differently.
(Tilting his head to the side still. It's a little difficult to really connect everything when, well, it's not like he's ever played a video game before! He can only relate this to the holographic screens he's used for work and so he wonders--)

(The magpie chirps, flying circles around him before landing on his shoulder,)
You never know what surprises the sea will share.

[Smash cut to the lighthouse corpse. It's fine.]
Well, have you found anything good?
no subject
Hmmm. (He holds out his hand to show Monika the thing Kiku has dropped. A piece of sea glass, green in color.) This and that.
What do you think?
no subject
[Her eyes light up, leaning a teensy bit closer to get a better look at the glass.]
It's pretty... I wonder what it used to be.
no subject
(Like, not here here. But you know.)

[She leans back, nodding.]
Now it's here, just one tiny piece of what used to be a whole.
no subject
(Anyway, he holds it out to her once more,)
Here.
(She can have it.)

week 1, sunday (post-execution)
Maybe we'll go somewhere high up in the sky next.
no subject
... Ahaha, like a castle in the sky? That would be amazing.
no subject
(And he looks up. They're too far down to see,)
Are there castles in the sky where you're from?
no subject
Not really? Things like that only exist in stories. And even if they were real, I never would have seen them.
[Oh, well. She looks up, at the murky darkness surrounding them.]
If we end up in the heavens tomorrow, let's take a look together. Since, you know, neither of us have been there.
no subject
(Kind of an interesting thing to say? he wonders if Monika was a girl that was like, stuck inside all day or something.)
Regardless, let's explore together. The cities we visit are important.
no subject
Ahaha, that's true. You saw that note from the other day, too?

The sea is beautiful but I can't appreciate being at the bottom of it.
(So yes, the fresh air is better.)
Of course, even a place has its faults... how are you these days, Monika-chan?
(Those dang memory shares and emotional bonds.)

You're the president of the club.
(He heard that much in the memory,)
Was one an assistant, perhaps?
