(Before the mini-event so let's say they're up bright and early! Tsurumaru can be found at the hotel sitting at a table in the lobby area by himself. He has a square sheet of paper in front of him and he's folding it precisely. A river otter rests on his lap.)
[ Someone's probably a little bit sore and rubbing his back because the floor isn't really comfortable for sleeping. He was on his way to the kitchen, but sees Tsurumaru hard(??) at work. Don't mind if he comes to check it out because he's curious. ]
(Sometime after the trial, Tsurumaru is going to track Kotetsu down and
JUMP AT HIM FROM BEHIND, both hands giving him a push on the back. It isn't too hard-- he isn't trying to make him fall but considering they're on the ocean floor and there's a lot of sand, Tsurumaru isn't being particularly careful. A little sand doesn't hurt anyone!!!)
[ There's a surprised sound as he's shoved from behind. He's hopping forward on one foot, arms flailing awkwardly until he manages to stop. Not actually eating the ground. Surprise!
(Tsurumaru is in a quiet part of the city by the canal, leaning over the ledge and looking down as Kiku (otter) swims about. She dives underwater and holds a glass shard in her paws that he reaches out to take. He holds it for a moment and when nothing happens, he decides it is another ordinary shard and adds it to the small pile next to him. She dives again and returns with one more shard but this time when he reaches it, he barely even touches it before-- )
You are at a large, traditional Japanese estate. There are many people dressed in all sorts of clothes and styles milling about and many small foxes running around.
One fox rests on your shoulder as you sit on the veranda by the garden. He urges you to be serious (you are) and that now isn't the time for surprises (nonsense) and reminds you that being the captain is a big responsibility (you know). He then hops down onto your lap and swipes at the bell around his neck to reveal many screens. The screens show old, historical paintings and what looks like scans of old scrolls and other writings. The fox swipes at them and begins to explain something. You might be able to make out a few words
the Sengoku era
Oda
mission
death
protect history
You move your hands to pull one of the screens in front of you. You're already familiar with the information you're reading but you aren't familiar with this battle. It's a good idea to look at the map more closely...
From behind you, you hear a set of footsteps walking with purpose and you swipe at the air. The screens disappear, the fox jumps on your shoulder, and you rise. You turn to greet your comrades and together, you walk towards a small shrine with fox statues and a curious device in the center. You place your hand on the device and there's a flash of light followed by a burst of cherry blossom petals.
When the cherry blossoms pass, you are no longer at the traditional estate.
You arrive on top of a hill. Below, you see army banners, horses, and camps. You turn to your comrades to announce you've arrived at--
(And the memory ends abruptly before it can be said.)
[ Maybe Kotetsu shouldn't be wandering around so much, stomach injury aside, since he seems to keep running into this type of thing. It isn't bad, but he does keep prying into other people's memories this way.
His eyes flicker over to the water, Finley's tail sweeping back and forth. ]
Tsurumaru is checking out the marketplace! He doesn't have much on him-- only a jewel or two from Krankaz. When he sees Kotetsu nearby, he slips his arm under Kotetsu's to wrap around it, and leeeeeeaaaaaaaans.
Cuddle week is truly the bane of Tsurumaru's existance so his goal is to just make things as awkward and menacing as possible by being kind of forward ok,)
Well, considering what's going on, he doesn't pull away from Tsurumaru. Besides, he likes the guy enough. So, instead he offers a smile. Finley peers at him, tail lazily waving behind her. A good tiger. ]
(He'll keep his mask on because he's actually a good spirit but as the festivities really start rolling and everyone is distracted with their own reunions, the crane's ghost will wander off and start checking out some of these tables with all the food and silverware and stuff.)

Good, good! After everything, a good surprise is in order, don't you think?

Oh? This is the first city we've visited to have so much life. You should enjoy it while we can, Kotetsu.

Yeah, but I don't have a lot of funds on me. I'm trying to be careful about what I pick out.
